Online University Canada Has Award-Winning Curriculum

It has taken four years, but the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Medicine has taken their curriculum online and in the process has earned accolades as the best managed project for 2011. The faculty's system, called Online Portal for Advanced Learning (OPAL), took top honors over four other entries at the Project Management Institute's annual award ceremony in Winnipeg.
One of the biggest challenges they faced in converting the system to a web-base happened when the vendor that was originally tapped to supply the system pulled out half way through, leaving the faculty to finish the project by other means. They recruited an outside specialist called Online Business Systems to finish the job, and in spite of these unexpected obstacles they finished the project under budget. The result was an online university Canada can be proud of.
