The students of Saudi Arabia will have a privilege of meeting and greeting the members of British universities at the International Higher Education Conference which is organized in Riyadh. The Ministry of Higher Education has planned this conference for the benefit of Saudi students.
Mahmoud Mouselli who is an associate project director at the British Council, said that "Around 75 British universities including the renowned Cambridge University, London College as well as Imperial College are a part of this four day global conference." He further added that "There is an unexpected response from British universities and other educational institutions as they are willing to contribute in the development of higher education in Saudi Arabia".
Adrian Chadwick, the director of the British Council, said that "The involvement of a number of British universities at the conference will lead to enhancement of cultural relationship as well as educational exchanges among the two countries. He was of the opinion that British universities are very keen on cooperating with a number of colleges involved in higher education.
British Council will also arrange for personal interviews and meetings for Saudi students with the British council representatives. This will help students to gain knowledge about the opportunities in the field of academic and scientific research as well as graduate programs from British universities.

Students in Canada have the option of studying on the campus or taking up distance education from the universities. There are many benefits of taking up distance education if the student is juggling work and study.
First of all, distance learning involves very less personal contact so it works only for students who are independent and comfortable learning alone. Canadian universities deliver distance education in the form of printed material, CD-ROM's, TV feed or online broadcasts. Online broadcasts are picking up momentum as the popular medium since video contact and emails can establish a better connect between students and teachers.

There is ample flexibility in the system and students can pick distance education courses anytime of the year with some exceptions. The courses are between 4-8 months long which includes the time for exams. The distance learning courses that are available at the university league cover almost all courses except the ones that include practical experience like science, medicine etc. The subjects that are on offer include finance and business, social sciences and the general arts.

Distance learning programs in Canada usually require students to register with the universities that they want to pursue the course from. This registration is through the general admission procedure with students having to fulfill the educational requirements of the course. Students can check the rankings of the universities on good uni guide. Students can now even get distance based education degrees, certificates and diplomas in certain courses.

The University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada is one of the online universities in Canada that has been recognized with awards of excellence for their distance education programs. In general, each distance education course comes with a manual that may be accompanied by a course website, videos, DVDs, audiotapes, CDs, CD-ROMs, etc. depending on the course.

Most distance education courses also incorporate computer conferencing, e-mail, computer-based testing and internet. The university has developed guidelines for new distance education courses that ensure a standard of excellence. They also offer a unique Open Learning program that allows maximum flexibility for students who want to take degree-credit courses for enrichment or pre-degree preparation from anywhere in the world. Students who are registered at other schools may also participate in these courses, and receive college credit for completing them.
